The research-oriented Master’s degree programme in Advanced Materials provides you with the theoretical and practical knowledge to optimise materials for future applications and to further develop them in a professional environment. The degree programme is closely linked to current materials research in Giessen with a focus on high-performance materials and energy materials. This gives you the opportunity to work on current research projects.

Admission requirements

1) The admission requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science (Advanced Materials) worth at least 180 ECTS credits including an academic thesis (Bachelor’s thesis).

In addition, other relevant, professionally qualifying certificates of academic degree may be recognised on a case-by-case basis.

Admission may require additional study achievements of up to 18 CP, which must be completed within the first two semesters.

Admission can be made dependent on passing an entrance examination. The skills and knowledge required for the Master’s degree programme are assessed based on the stated requirements for the prerequisite certificate of academic degree. Applicants will be invited to the entrance examination with a notice period of at least three weeks.

2) For this degree course, English language proficiency must be demonstrated at level B2.
