Course profile:
The Master´s degree programme in Sports Science: Athletics Coach in Football provides in-depth knowledge of sports science, training science and performance diagnostics with a clear focus on professional football. Students acquire the skills to manage and optimise athletic performance and to develop evidence-based training concepts for both team and individual training. The degree course combines theoretical content with practical applications and prepares students to take on positions of responsibility within interdisciplinary performance teams.

Course contents
The curriculum includes thematic focus areas that are geared towards the demands of modern football. These include:
• Training management and periodisation in professional football
• Sport-specific performance diagnostics & monitoring
• Development of speed, strength and endurance in a football-specific context
• Regeneration, prevention and return to play
• Data-based coaching and technology use
• Communication & cooperation in the performance team
The programme also includes the acquisition of the B-level coaching licence (football) as a qualification component.

Programme structure & model
The full-time degree is divided into four semesters with four block phases per semester. This structure combines face-to-face teaching, guided self-study and supervised practice projects to closely link theory and application. Students can flexibly combine the programme model with practical roles in club or association settings.
The training takes place in a high-performance setting that integrates expertise from sports science, psychology, medicine, physiotherapy and nutritional science, with specialised focus areas across three locations in Germany.

Admission requirements
– Eligibility to study in Master’s degree courses according to § 9 (5) BbgHG
– Completed relevant Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science or in a related field worth at least 180 ECTS credits, of which at least 70 ECTS credits must be oriented towards sports science, sports psychology or training science. Missing basic knowledge can be acquired by taking modules from the Bachelor’s degree programme Sports Science Coach in the Team Sport of Football.
