Overview

Our Harz residence hall is located right in the heart of the city on the Saale. In this historic, protected building, a total of 71 students find a cozy home in single apartments and shared apartments for two or three people.

The market square, numerous shops, the university library, the opera house and theaters, as well as bars and clubs, are all just a few minutes’ walk away. This also applies to the city’s two universities: Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle.

Rent deposit
Before moving in, the renter has to transfer a deposit in the amount of three times the monthly rent, but no more than 350 EUR.

Duration of housing
The rental agreement is automatically extended by one semester up to a maximal period of six semesters.
After the regular rental period has expired, the rental agreement can be extended for an additional two semesters.
Two months' notice must be given before the rental contract is terminated.

Special deals for international students
In the dormitories run by the Student Administration (Studentenwerk Halle), there are (international students who also live in the dormitories). Their task is to help international fellow students to quickly get accommodated and feel at home.

The "culture tutors" of the International Office are responsible for a for international students at the University of Halle, featuring an international monthly Stammtisch, excursions, cultural evenings, concerts and much more.
