Overview

From Bonn’s Südstadt district, where the Bismarckstraße student housing complex is located, it takes about ten minutes to walk to the Juridicum or the main university building. It’s even faster by tram.

Built around the turn of the century and used as a tax office after the war, the building was converted in 1981 into student housing with 55 units. There are 46 single rooms, eight large unfurnished apartments (for up to two people), and one apartment for one person. There are plenty of shared bathrooms.

Rent deposit
Tenants are required to pay a deposit before conclusion of the agreement. This always amounts to one-and-a-half to two monthly rents. The deposit is not subject to payment of interest (in compliance with Section 551 (3) of the German Civil Code (§ 551 Abs. 3 BGB)).

Duration of housing
In order to give as many students as possible a chance to rent inexpensively, rental periods in Studierendenwerk dorms are limited to six semesters. An extension can only be considered in exceptional cases.

Community facilities are available in the dorms. There are washing machines and dryers that can be used for a fee. There are no parking spaces for cars.
