Overview

The Weinberg Hochhaus I student housing complex is located in the heart of the Weinberg Campus of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU). The departments of Mathematics/Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, Medicine, and others are in the immediate vicinity. There are single rooms in shared apartments, which
include not only a private room but also two separate bathrooms, a shared kitchen, and a common room.

The Weinberg cafeteria, with its café bar, is right next door. The BAföG office for applications is also located in the Weinberg cafeteria. The Weinberg daycare center and the WeinbergKids short-term childcare service are also right next to the student housing complex.

Rent deposit
Before moving in, the renter has to transfer a deposit in the amount of three times the monthly rent, but no more than 350 EUR.

Duration of housing
The rental agreement is automatically extended by one semester up to a maximal period of six semesters.
After the regular rental period has expired, the rental agreement can be extended for an additional two semesters.
Two months' notice must be given before the rental contract is terminated.

The cellars of the student residences have rooms with washing machines and dryers and bike parking areas. There are plenty of free public parking spaces available.

The nearest supermarket is about 10 minutes on foot away.

Special deals for international students
In the dormitories run by the Student Administration (Studentenwerk Halle), there are (international students who also live in the dormitories). Their task is to help international fellow students to quickly get accommodated and feel at home.

The "culture tutors" of the International Office are responsible for a for international students at the University of Halle, featuring an international monthly Stammtisch, excursions, cultural evenings, concerts and much more.

As long as there are not any differing arrangements between the Studentenwerk and the tenant, the key handover for the rental object takes place Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. On weekends and bank holidays, there is no entitlement to a handover of keys. Individual key collections outside these hours via authorised third parties have to be arranged with the administration beforehand.
