Studentensiedlung am Seepark

Overview

This housing development is the largest in Freiburg with around 2,700 students. It is located on the west side of Freiburg, offering a number of different types of apartments and flat-sharing communities, from two to eight students or up to 12 students on the same floor sharing a common kitchen and sanitary facilities. Students can reach the city or university in ten minutes by bike or tram.

The Studierendensiedlung was built in the 1960s, but was recently renovated. All rooms have internet access and some of the buildings offer an awesome view over the park and the lake. In the next years, the "Studierendensiedlung" will be further expanded. The buildings No. 74 A, B and C have already been realised.

The student bar (StuSie-Bar) is legendary! Different types of recreational, sport and other activates are always going on.

Since July 2025, 130 residential places have been undergoing renovation. The old building is being demolished and replaced by a new one.

Rent deposit
At the beginning of the tenancy, a deposit of € 500.00 for single rooms or € 600.00 for single rooms and € 700.00 for flats is due, which will be returned after moving out, provided there are no complaints about the room. The deposit will be refunded approx. 4 weeks after the end of the contract.

Duration of housing
In order to allow as many students as possible to live in a dormitory, the rental contract period is limited to six semesters.

In special and justified cases, it is possible to extend the rental contract for up to eight more semesters.

Special deals for students with children / families
For families who submit a "Wohnberechtigungsschein" from Baden-Württemberg, a number of two- and three-room flats are available in houses no 10 and 12. In addition, there is a small number of flats in houses no 30, 52 and no 54.

A qualified nursery school teacher with several years of experience in child care is available for parents. Rooms in House 10 have been equipped for children, who are supervised between 8 and 1 o'clock (or at other times by arrangement).

Student Services Freiburg assists students with children in various ways from day-care to a special website with useful links:
